The rooms are tastefully decorated with modern furnishings and amenities, ensuring a high level of comfort for guests. From plush bedding to spacious bathrooms and thoughtful touches, The Kirkwood Hotel does not shy away from ensuring their guests are comfortable, we honestly felt a bit like royalty staying there! We loved utilizing the complimentary shuttle service, and we found the staff to be extremely helpful with whatever we needed. The onsite restaurant, Class Act was the perfect spot to grab brunch before a busy day touring the city.

Families and friends can embark on an exciting adventure as they explore the farm's sprawling grounds, which feature a plethora of attractions. From thrilling corn mazes and hayrides to a petting zoo and pumpkin patch, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The farm also hosts seasonal events, such as harvest festivals and holiday celebrations, adding an extra touch of excitement and enchantment. While visiting in the summer, we spent time holding baby bunnies, puppies, ducklings, lambs, and a plethora of other cute creatures. The grounds were beautiful and really encapsulated a great experience highlighting the agriculture of the region.
Walk with Llamas at Prairie Patch Farm
Enjoy a walk through the nature preserve with Earl, Huckleberry, Poet or one of the eleven llamas located onsite. Visit with the goats or soak in the countryside just minutes from downtown! The farm is spread across acres of fields and wooded areas, and even has a small shop for cute llama-themed souvenirs!
Become a Potter at Iowa Ceramics Center
I love experiencing new things! I’d never successfully thrown clay to create a pot before, but this beginners class at the Iowa Ceramics Center had me spinning the clay for the very first time! Inside the historic Cherry Building in downtown Cedar Rapids, you’ll learn about the history of pottery in the city, admire local art, and even relive your own ‘Ghost’ experience as you throw some clay on a potter’s wheel and create your own masterpieces!
Taste the Whiskey at Cedar Ridge Winery & Distillery
Set amidst picturesque vineyards, it offers a unique experience with its handcrafted spirits. From rich reds to crisp whites and flavorful bourbons, there's something for every palate. The tasting room provides a cozy atmosphere to sample and savor their creations. Additionally, the distillery offers behind-the-scenes tours and a chance to witness the meticulous process of crafting their spirits.
Explore the Historic New Bo District
Stroll around New Bo and ‘czech’ out the neighborhood shops, restaurants and culture for some great photo opportunities. Stop in at SOKO outfitters and try your hand at rockclimbing on the rock wall. Grab an ice cream float at Sweet Mercantile, try and assortment of popcorn at Almost Famous, or sip on a beer flight at Lion Bridge Brewery in between browsing the local shops.
There are some great thrift stores and antique shops you’re bound to find something nostalgic in. New Bo Market also has a variety of food stands featuring tons of different international cuisines which makes a perfect stop for lunch.
